Phoenix Rising and the

Birth of Holographic Visual Philosophy

Above is only a few examples from the

ongoing experiments with Phoenix Arise.

Quite by accident, visual philosopher Leigh J. McCloskey

discovered that by replicating and arranging duplicates

of his original oil painting Phoenix Arise, astonishing

archetypal forms began to appear.

PHOENIX RISING is a series of evolving experiments

performed by video artist David Wexler, in which,

through utilizing fractal equations and kaleidoscopic

iterations of the Phoenix Arise, McCloskey’s fixed

oil painting is translated into a moving non-linear

narrative.

created in 2006 as the first part

of an ongoing series. A commercial

DVD will be available soon.
